Malin Winberg

Some new work has just arrived at the gallery! These beautiful silver and oxidised silver pieces are by Malin Winberg. Malin studied Jewellery and Silversmithing at Glasgow School of Art, after moving to the UK from Finland. Her work is inspired by the stories and characters in the Finnish folklore epic ‘The Kalevala’. Malin uses traditional techniques such as raising, forging and chasing silver to create the organic forms and textures found in the Finnish forests and woodlands, where many of these stories take place.

Our next exhibition will showcase 15 makers who have each made three new and special pieces for our Gallery. The exhibition will run 8th - 30th May 2013 with two private views on Wednesday 8th May 6 - 8pm and Saturday 11th May 12 - 3pm.
